Champions League Finale- Madrid '10

As you all might know, The Champions League Title was disputed about 3 days ago. The final was played Between Inter of Milan and F.C Bayern Munich. It was an amazing game full of expectations and heart-stopping goals. These images might explain what I mean in a more clear way.

This of course was all thanks to the ultimate genius, José Mario dos Santos Félix Mourinho. A.K.A Jose Mourinho

Bayern was completely crushed from beginning to end ultimately losing 2-0. Argentinian genius Diego Milito, made it possible with 2 incredible goals. 2 goals that are making him widely popular to many clubs and people, some even fight to have him.

Although some may argue that Mourinho's style is way too defensive, you can't argue with someone who just won the Champions League, the most prestigious club cup in the world. You can't fight that kind of logic my friends.

You might enjoy watching the highlights of the game! Enjoy!

My own soccer experience

I was recently told by my soccer coach that we were going to be entering a soccer tournament which is sponsored by the well known travel agency: Aviatur.

Our soccer team has about 20 people, of which 16 were chosen to play this tournament. This wasn't a regular tournament since we usually have to buy the uniforms and we use our own "guayos" (cleats). In this particular tournament we are given the uniform and shoes in order to play. Since I already have two pairs of cleats I was thinking on giving them to a friend, but I thought to my self: "What if they're cool? It would suck if I had to give them to a friend. So, I decided to keep them.

As I've said before, this isn't a regular tournament because it's not 11 against 11, as it would normally be. In this tournament we're play 8 against 8 in a smaller field, which is why our coaches chose 16 players, so we could make up two different teams.

There are two private schools and two lower class schools involved in this tournament. The two private schools are obviously C.N.G and Colegio Helvetia. We will be mixed with the lower class schools and form 8 teams of 8 players and play against each other. I personally don't like the idea of playing competitively against my own teammates and friends, but I guess that's something I'll have to do in order to win the tournament.

The reason I want to win this tournament is because the winner will go to Cartagena (all expenses paid) to play against the winner over there. I'm really excited about this tournament and I hope we all play really well and have fun, but most importantly WIN!!!

Here are some pictures of me playing soccer, enjoy:

Anthem of Real Madrid
Real Madrid's anthem was created during a train travel from Aranjuez to Madrid. It was performed for the first time by Jose de Aguilar. The archetype of the anthem was written in "The Green Frog" restaurant by Luis Cisneros Galiane, and other people connected with its creation are Marine Garcia, Amora Farina and Antonio Villena Sanchez.
When recording began in the Columbia record company Santiago Bernabeu himself got interested in the anthem. During the recording de Aguilar was supported by 32 musicians, among whom many were members of the University Conservatoire as well as the Spanish National Orchestra.
As an anecdote we can mention a conversation between Luis Galiane and Santiago Bernabeu. Real's legendary president asked Galiane whether he was an employee of the club. Senor Luis, known for his sense of humour, answered that he wasn't and, moreover, that he was a fan of Atletico Madrid. Seeing Bernabeu's disappointment Galiane quickly said that not only was he joking, but he also repeatedly tried to get a job in Real, but there were no free jobs. Bernabeu - who was on the phone at the same time - said: "The record must be enclosed with a photo of the singer and tomorrow it will be presented to the whole board. It will become one of the symbols of Real Madrid!"
This story was told by Luis Galiane's son. It took place in1952, an from that moment the song is the official anthem of Real Madrid.

Lyrics (Spanish)

De las glorias deportivas
que campean por España
va el Madrid con su bandera
limpia y blanca que no empaña
Club castizo y generoso,
todo nervio y corazón,
veteranos y noveles,
veteranos y noveles,
miran siempre tus laureles
con respeto y emoción
¡Hala Madrid!, ¡Hala Madrid!
Noble y bélico adalid,
caballero del honor.
¡Hala Madrid!, ¡Hala Madrid!
A triunfar en buena lid,
defendiendo tu color
¡Hala Madrid!, Hala Madrid!, Hala Madrid!
Enemigo en la contienda,
cuando pierde da la mano
sin envidias ni rencores,
como bueno y fiel hermano

Real Madrid v. Barcelona.......Superclasico

The great Real Madrid and Barcelona F.C are going to play an exciting and nerve-wrecking game! In Madrid, Spain at The Santiago Bernabeu. With Real playing with home advantage they have very high chances of winning, but considering the last game they played, where Barcelona won 1-0, no one really knows who will win.

This is the history between these two great clubs:

UEFA Champions League

The UEFA Champions League this year has been truly surprising and extremely saddening for many (including me). The three teams which were expected to arrive to the finals, or at least semi-finals, were eliminated!

Real Madrid

Chelsea

Milan

Olympique de Lyon beat Real Madrid in a disgusting match which has scarredme for life, given that the team I die for (Real Madrid) hasn't reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in over 6 years. Which is weird since Real Madrid is the team with the most Champions League titles and the only team to have won this title 5times in a row.

Chesea, on the other hand, has never won a Champions League title, but has always reached very far in the last 3 years, although they haven't been able to complete the roll, they have always proven to be a strong team and they are always favorite in these tournaments. They lost against Inter Milan which played fantastically and I think have potential of conquering the title.

Milan which has an amazing past also got eliminated by the hard rivals: Manchester United. Milan was completely powerless and Man Utd scored 4 goals in their last game which immediatly knocked Milan out! So we have yet to see the outcome of this tournament, it's getting good!

STAY TUNED!!!

Real Madrid (From superstars-To superfailures)

Although I am a crazy Real Madrid fan, I must acknowledge the team's biggest problem: Consistency, they have none!!!

Real Madrid last saturday knocked one out of the park by defeating a long time rival Sevilla. Real Madrid started losing 2-0, and it stayed that way until Cr9 (Cristiano Ronaldo) scored a goal around minute 60. Then after a powerful long-range shot from Guti, a corner was conceived. The corner was taken into action and the powerful right field defender Sergio Ramos scored a beatiful head goal. The game was 2-2 and I couldn't have been more excited (you can ask my friend Alex who was watching the game with me) and in extra time in minute 94 van der vaart saved the day with a mistake made by Palop after Higuain's header, and scored an easy yet important goal, which led Real to win the match 3-2!!!

With this result Real stands at the top with it's rival F.C Barcelona and fight for "la liga" which is Spain's soccer cup. Just look at the excitement of the players!!!

What followed was truly saddening. Real Madrid had already lost to Olympique de Lyon in France 1-0 and looked for a win in Santiago Bernabeu which would place them in the Quarter-Finals of the UEFA Champions League. The agg (aggregate) was 1-0 in favor of Lyon, which meant that Real had to win 2-0 or more in order to win directly and go on to the next rounf, a task many people thought would be "like taking candy from a baby", but they couldn't be more wrong.

Today Real Madrid started an incredible game with an amazing chance for Kaka in the first 40 sec and they looked like they were going to kick some serious ass. Cristiano Ronaldo Scored a splendid goal in the 6th minute of the first half and it seemed like they were ready for action, but a missed opportunity that followed alarmed Real Madrid fans everywhere. Gonzalo Higuain recieved a remarkable pass into the open and he ran for the ball eager to score, he got to the ball a second earlier than Hugo Lloris (Lyon Goalkeeper) and managed to elude him and come face-to-face with the net. When Higuain took the strike we were all shouting for the goal whe suddenly.......the ball strikes the right post and bounces off, leaving Gonxalo Higuain helpless and netless. The miutes that followed were't to exciting, some chances here and there but nothing too exciting. But, in the second half at approximately 70 min, Panjevic scores a goal to Iker casillas which leaves Real hopeless, anf without chance to pass on to quarter-finals. Since Lyon scored a goal as visitants they left the agg at 2-1 which meant they moved on and Real didn't (that would be the 6th consecutive time Real doesn't make it past Quarter-finals). You can just see the players sad faces, not at all like their face aainst Sevilla.
